This September we are proud to introduce you to our cover Rashuna Durham. Change Magazine had the pleasure of sitting with Rashuna while she worked her hair magic. Rashuna and her family have built their success together creating, in the words of Rashuna a “family business conglomerate.” Their family success is built on the success of the multiple businesses that the Durhams share. The family works together in Upstate New York owning, Shuna’s Hair Studios, Simple Luxuries, William H. Construction, William Jane Dispensary, along with owning and managing multiple properties around the area. If this doesn’t sound like generational wealth, well I just don’t know what does.

We asked Rashuna how she got started working in the cosmetology field and she replied “ I just loved doing hair. I was a little girl and I literally have been doing hair since I could pick up a comb. I would sit and braid the rugs, and tassels on the curtains. Whatever had strings, I would braid.”

Rashuna is a wife to William and a wonderful mother to 4 beautiful children who also are following in their mothers footsteps and becoming people who change the world with their kindness. Rashuna loves to help where she can and bring awareness to her community. Take a listen below to see how she handles juggling so many things.

Rashuna has worked on fashion shows for brands including Off White, Alice and Olivia, Cucculelli Shahenn, Christian Siriano, Johnathan Hayden, Skims and Nike just to name a few. When Rashuna is not working you can find her at one of her children’s sports games even if she has to stream it from afar she is always there to support her family. It is not easy building a brand let alone multiple brands and raising a family, but Rashunda makes it look easy. We are forever grateful that she let us come and chat with her.
